James Filippides is a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in South London.
Originally from the UK and raised between North Carolina and Atlanta, James began his journey as the frontman of Brighton-based indie rock band Safe To Swim, who quickly became a favourite among music press heavyweights like NME, DIY Magazine, and CLASH, the latter dubbing them the “Best New Band from the South Coast.”
After touring extensively and playing major festivals across the UK, James shifted his focus to co-writing and production. While working at renowned studios in London — assisting on sessions for artists such as Foals, Dry Cleaning, and Black Country, New Road — he was simultaneously developing his own voice and skillset as a writer and producer.
Now working as a full-spectrum “100%er,” James is equally at home writing toplines, crafting lyrics, building productions from scratch, or finalising mixes. His work has been featured on Apple Music 1’s The Zane Lowe Show, Spotify’s New Music Friday, and Live Nation’s Ones to Watch.
Recent collaborators include Pura Bliss, vi0let, Monty Keates, Jordan Nash, Lauren Dejay, Henjila, Annabel Allum, No Cash Refunds, Lucy DK, and Ashlie Skye. James is also set to launch his artist/producer project, Boston Supermarket, later this year.
