Iris Theatre's Workin Process team are pleased to announce our exciting new song writing competition and concert: Workin Process presents Xmas Factor!
CALLING ALL SONGWRITERS!
In March 2011 Iris Theatre launched its new writing strand with a night of new musical theatre hosted by actress Natalie Casey. In 2012, this was followed by the super successful Blind Date, where composers and lyricists were matched up to create songs for a special concert for Valentine’s Day.
For 2013, we launch our Christmas song writing competition!
We are now looking for songwriters to take part in Workin Process presents Xmas Factor. This time round songwriters will create a new Christmas song for a special concert at St Paul’s, Covent Garden during the festive season.
The rules The song must be completely new (ideally be character driven with some narrative element) and must be Christmas themed.
We are interested in hearing from all types of song writers; both experienced and those just starting out.
The competition A short list of songs will be selected from the entrants to be performed and judged by the audience with a special prize for the best song on the night.
The dates Submission deadline – Friday 15 November at 6pm Successful entrants will be notified by Wednesday 20 November.
Performance date – Friday 6 December at 7.30pm Applications If you are up for this exciting challenge, please submit the following: 1) Send us a CV and biog and tell us a bit about yourself: 2) Provide a demo (don’t worry about quality) and sheet music for your Christmas song.
3) Specify whether (if selected for the concert) you would like to provide your own performer/s or whether you would like Iris Theatre to cast your song for you (this will not prejudice your application).
